A Gas Chromatography Approach to the Determination of Free Amino Acids in Sugarcane Juice

چکیده

Quantification of amino acids in sugarcane juice by gas chromatography has been reported for the first time. The method involves the removal of free amino acids from previously deproteinated cane juice by absorption onto cation exchange resin. Desorbed amino acids are then converted into their butyl esters which, when subjected to GC on a 50% phenyl-50% methyl polysiloxane (RTX-50) column, appear as individual peaks. The method thus developed has also been extended for investigating the free amino acids in sugarcane during its maturation period. Six well-known Indian sugarcane varieties were studied. The analytical data are likely to be useful for further investigation on the role of individual amino acids in sugarcane maturation.

Theoretical study of the solvent effects on the thermodynamic functions of Alanine and Valine Amino Acids

Using Gaussian 03, software the thermodynamic functions such as Gibbs free energy, G, Enthalpy, H, and Entropy, S, of Alanine and Valine amino acids were theoretically studied at different solvents. First, the Density Functional Theory (B3LYP) level with 3-21G, 6-31G and 6-31+G basis sets were employed to optimization of isolated Alanine and Valine amino acids in the gas phase. Moreover, Vib...

Development and Validation of a GC-FID Method for Diagnosis of Methylmalonic Acidemia

Background: Urinary organic acids are water-soluble intermediates and end products of the metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, and a number of other metabolic processes. In the hereditary diseases known as organic acidurias, an enzyme or co-factor defect in a metabolic pathway leads to the accumulation and increased excretion of one or more of these acidic metabolites. Gas chromato...

The Effects of Simvastatin on Free Fatty Acids Profile in Fructose-fed Insulin Resistant Rats

Backgrounds: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease and free fatty acids, as signaling molecules, can play a crucial role in the development of it. Different free fatty acids, through various cell membrane receptors, induce different effects on metabolic pathways and thereby affect insulin sensitivity. Simvastatin is a cholesterol decreasing drug prescrib...

Determination of Carboxylic Acids in Apple Juice by RP HPLC

Low molecular weight organic acids are most predominant in apple juice among these components fumaric acid was not exceed more than 5 ppm. It was thought that the HPLC is the best method of the determination of organic acids in the apple juice. In this study, chromatographic separation of organic acids of apple juice was obtained by preparing a sample and by applying them to acid phase for ...
